A reflection on 2014.

Happy 2015!

I always find New Year to be funny one. So much expectation is placed on a single day and, at least to me, the 1st January never feels significantly different to the 31st December. I often spend it nursing a considerably evil hangover entirely self-inflicted from the antics of the night before! However, despite my cynicism, it is somewhat comforting to feel like you have been handed another chance to start a new year afresh and improve the aspects of life which have begun to niggle away at you.

2014 has been an important year for me in terms of learning more about myself. I have become a stronger and more resilient person both mentally and physically. I now know what I am capable of if I push myself, when it's time to stop and accept defeat and what my priorities are. My struggles are definitely not over, in fact some of them are still flying high. When you've a hard year it is difficult to simply turn over a new leaf and expect everything to simply disappear.

What I am trying to say is if you have also had a particularly hard year, for whatever reason, please do not give up. The fact you are still standing, however wounded, is enough proof of your strength as a person. Make 2015 a bigger and better year. Push yourself closer to your dreams, do what makes you happy, try new things and have no regrets. Don't take no for an answer if someone challenges you. No one knows your self better than you do, and if you want something, don't stop until you achieve it. It won't always come to you, you'll have to push yourself out of your comfort zone. Within reason, of course, but you can do it. What I am trying to say that in between the doom and gloom there are glimmers of hope and opportunity which must be seized. For me, 2015 is all about self-improvement.

My new year's resolutions:
Stay positive
Don't take everything to heart
Stay close with friends and loved ones
Don't compare myself to others. We are all different for a reason.

Holly x
