The cause of my lipstick addiction.
This is my favourite your-lips-but-better lipstick, I'm so pleased with it! This is the first MAC lipstick I've ever bought and I'm now a convert. It's part of the Lustre range and gives a gorgeous sheer colour which is perfect all year round without being at all drying (a big plus if you also get dry lips).
I can just slick it on before dashing out of the door (which happens too often) and is so appropriate for everything from a day at work, interviews, seeing friends, to travelling if you want to spruce up your make-up without looking too overdone. It now comes everywhere with me when I want to make my look appear more 'complete'. The shade is a lovely muted pink which enhances natural colouring, which looks especially nice on fellow pale skinned girls. Basically it helps us look more alive! It applies so easily and the beauty of natural lipsticks are that you don't need to spend hours glued to the mirror or refusing to drink with nothing but a straw in case it smudges. If it starts to fade, simply apply another layer and no one will know! I really recommend this for a first lipstick.
It was my first time visiting a MAC counter and I had little knowledge of lipsticks in general, let alone these gorgeous high-end tubes! And, to be honest, the vast array of perfectly stacked colours was slightly daunting. What colours suit my face? Am I warm or cool toned? Does that even matter for a nude? When you eventually start to doubt what your face even looks like, it's time to speak to a professional. I was lucky enough to have a lovely Scottish girl who helped me relax enough to choose my colour. She carefully cleaned each contender, handed me a mirror, and took me to some natural light as artificial shop spotlights tend to distort colour. What looks great indoors may look totally different on the street! There's something quite grown up about choosing your first 'proper' lipstick. It's a rite of passage, made even more special by my mum being there to help guide me.
Since Syrup I have also bought Dubonnet (part of the amplified range) which I'm loving in the evening.
